Software Developer Consultant

Reports to: Manager, Enterprise Products

ROLE SUMMARY

  The Software Developer Consultant is a senior level programming technician, responsible for -
designing, coding, testing, implementing applications systems and providing guidance to other
developers within the team. Regularly provides guidance and direction in design, development,
implementation and troubleshooting problems with production systems. This position is required
to keep up to date on technological developments in systems and programming. Participates in
development projects as a team member with staff from within the Information Technology
department and from external departments or vendors.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate in full technology project life cycle (analysis, design and/or package review, development, testing, quality assurance, deployment, and production 
  • Responsible for analyzing, programming and implementing modifications to existing systems required by changes in the business 
  • Responsible for implementing standards such as coding and processes through out the life cyle of 
  • Responsible for conducting application code reviews and suggesting necessary changes as 
  • Participate in the design and documentation of complex technology 
  • Document and/or support application deployment 
  • Report on status of systems and projects on a regular and timely 
  • Ensure the timely resolution of issues.
  • Follow VCI standards and 
  • Escalate anticipated risk to management promptly and 
  • Responsible for analyzing job requirements, preparing specifications, and preparing time and cost estimates for systems development 
  • Participate in developing strategic partnerships with systems and business management.
  • Develop understanding of business unit’s goals and 
  • Analyze and identify the need for improvement in existing process/applications, present solutions and implementation plan to 
  • Provide technical leadership and direction for assigned development work items in partnerships with Technical 
  • Responsible for developing new service base 
  • Partner with Technical Lead on technical design options; consult with hardware and software technicians on options and 
  • Prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced 
  • Work closely with enterprise architecture team or Technical Lead to define and implement enterprise process 
  • Participate in coding, development or technical support at least 50-75% or more as needed per project and team.

  • Strong understanding of the .Net framework, XML,XSLT, HTML, CSS, web services and real-time applications knowledge with Oracle and MS SQL Server as data 
  • Strong technical knowledge in Objected Oriented Development methodologies, design 
  • Experience with Agile a plus (pair programming, test driven development, XP, continuous integration,

Experience
  • 7+ years’ Experience with one or more development methodologies
Education Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work
