Mechanical Designer / Components

Northridge, CA

Essential Responsibilities: 

•Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting CAD software such as SolidWorks.

•Produce effective product designs by using their understanding of engineering and manufacturing techniques

•Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design, manufacturing or other problems. 

•Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.

 •Position instructions and comments onto drawings. 

•Create exploded views with part numbers based on bill of material 

•Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.

•Work closely with loudspeaker systems engineers to define and develop mechanical requirements and specifications.

•Creation and refinement of technical mechanical part and assembly drawings to capture design intent and document the key aspects necessary to accomplish the manufacturing goals of a project.

•Work under the supervision of Mechanical, Systems and Transducer engineers to develop 

•Update and revise 2D drawings on changes needed by Engineers and Designers. 

•Manage drawing system integrity in product data management system 

•Check drafts to ensure accuracy and completeness with design engineers 

•Work closely with partners' , manufacturing facilities to transition and support the manufacture of loudspeaker products, transducers, electronics and subassemblies

Skills Required: 

•Engineering experience and proficiency in SolidWorks

•Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) 

•Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) 

•Experience elaborating 2D drawings from 3D CAD models using standard drafting practices

•Knowledge of design requirements for injection molding, die casting, woodworking, sheet metal, stamping, CNC machining, finishing, etc. 

•Experience in a workgroup or collaborative engineering team in a matrix organization

Experience Required:

•3 years minimum experience in design and development of mechanical products and assemblies 

•Engineering experience and formal training in MCAD tool


•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
