Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Serve as interface with shipping and receiving vendors for domestic and international shipments. Job Responsibilities: •Domestic shipping functions/requirements for UPS, FedEx and DHL Shipping and receiving functions. •Insure that packages are picked up and delivered to correct buildings, including interacting with any courier services or related vendors. •Move, pack and palletize shipments as needed, including use of bubble/foam wrap, foam machine, and hi-lo (forklift). •Insure that customer shipments comply with customer requirements. •Record goods received in SAP or other ERM software as needed. •Ability to drive 10,000+-lb. truck in Michigan, including ability to obtain Michigan Class C License and USDOT Medical Card. •Maintain an computerized inventory system for all items in a 15,000 sq ft warehouse. •International shipping functions/requirements UPS, FedEx and DHL •LTL shipping procedures and carrier knowledge •International shipping procedures/requirements for freight •Use of correct packaging for shipments – anti static bags, foam, bubble wrap •Proper customs documentation •Correct procedures for customer shipments – labeling and packing •Scheduling and verifying customer shipments – customer website knowledge •Proper scheduling of LTL shipments – domestic & international •Recording all receipts of packages and pallet shipments daily •Signing and verifying all products received – box counts & pallet quantities •Inspecting for damage •Verifying the correct ship to location
Basic Qualifications: •Michigan Class C (Chauffeur’s) License. •Must be able to lift at least 70 lbs. •Familiarity with SAP or similar software. •Demonstrated ability and knowledge concerning palletizing shipments, using foam machines and other packing equipment, and operating a hi-lo. Must have or be able to get hi-lo certification. •Proven ability to track shipments and resolve shipping and delivery issues. •Previous experience working with major shipping companies (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.), and knowledge of (LTL) common carriers and practices (ABF, Dayton Freight, FedEx Freight, etc.). •Basic facilities and safety knowledge. •Must be able to climb ladders, access roofs, and function in small and/or awkward workspaces (e.g., under desks, in electrical rooms, etc.). •Must have sufficient dexterity to operate foam machine and pack items properly. •Must be able to drive and get certification for hi-lo (forklift). •Must be willing to work overtime during peak times
•3 years or more of Shipping & Receiving, warehouse, or directly related experience, including some warehouse knowledge and/or experience
